Meet The Team

President
Emily Panton
Meet Sandy, our SEEDS President whose love for reptiles runs deep—she’s a true herpetology enthusiast! As an undergraduate, she recently represented our chapter at the national SEEDS Leadership Meeting held at Harvard Forest. Most recently, she wrote the proposal, organized the logistics, and secured funding for the newest SEEDS adventure to Ocala Springs in November 2025.

Vice President
Abby Scigliano
I joined SEEDS to help promote conservation of our local states many different ecosystems. I've always had a deep love for the natural environment since I was a little girl and developed a strong desire to help preserve it, with hopes of facilitating that same passion in my fellow peers.

Officer Description

Outreach Coordinator
Angelina Zitelli
My name is Angelina Zitelli, and I received my B.S. in Biological Sciences from FAU. I am currently a master's student in Biological Sciences at FAU with research interests centered on plant and insect ecology, particularly in tropical systems. Captivated by Florida's unique biodiversity, my thesis explores the reproductive ecology of Pistia stratiotes L., an aquatic plant that dominates Florida waterways. I joined SEEDS to connect with fellow ecological researchers and nature enthusiasts while broadening my understanding of diverse ecological methods and systems beyond my own research focus. I also hope to spread awareness and engage with others about the importance of understanding and caring for our incredible biodiversity. Beyond research, I enjoy hiking, paddleboarding, playing guitar, and singing.

Faculty Advisor
Joshua Scholl Ph.D.
Josh is a faculty member in the Biology Department at FAU and a SEEDS alumnus. Broadly trained as a population ecologist, Josh is particularly interested in plants and the traits they employ to survive and reproduce in challenging environments. He is also keenly interested in gopher tortoise ecology.

Faculty Advisor
Evelyn Frazier, Ph.D.
Evelyn is a faculty member in the Biology Department at FAU and has advised SEEDS since its inception. With a love for all things creepy and crawly, Evelyn studies insects and their interactions with plants. She also researches gopher tortoises and the many other organisms that share their burrows.
